From softly spiraled to coiled or tightly spiraled the experts have identified nine curl types to identify your curls.

It has an S pattern when stretched much like Type 3 curly hair. Softly wavy to Boomerang Spiral hair. That is Type V curly hair is so tightly coiled that the curls in this curl type do not have enough length to express a visible curve and at first sight their shape resemble what looks like Z-shaped hair strands.
Type 3A hair has large loose curls that tend to be about an inch in width. Some areas of this curly hair tend to become flatter as the days go especially the ones close to the nape of your neck. The sub classifications - from A to C - are based upon the diameter of the wave curl or coil.
Type V curly hair exhibits a peculiar shape resembling a Z instead of the coiled cursive E shape from Type III and Type IV curly hair. At the end of the curly hair spectrum is Very Curly hair. Type 4B hair has a less defined pattern of curls and looks more like a Z as the hair bends with very sharp angles.
There is definitely a time and place for them. Type 4A hair is full of tight coils. Curlee Girlee hair is Spirally 3A.
Id like to start by mentioning that I know many girls love to follow hair charts and use their hair type to make a lot of decisions. Type 3 hairs form ringlets that are naturally defined and more prone to dryness tangles frizz and breakage. This is often because their finer curls will fall flat.
